YAY!!!
Month 1 is finished!!!
Ahhhhh... lots of hard work. The dedication to work out 6 out of 7 days a week is difficult. I think I still look mostly the same. Probably because my diet hasn't been the best... especially the past week and a half that my aunt arrived to my house... so, overeating = bad.
I'm pretty excited about next month! One week of Core Cardio & Balance... then Month 2!!!
Plyometric Cardio Circuit:
Maybe it's the rain? My right knee was bothering me as soon as I got to "Mountain Climbers" during the warm-up. I worked through the first set, then during the second set... I actually had to stop during Mt. Climbers. I searched for my knee brace but couldn't find it! Must find tomorrow!
It almost felt like my knee was going to give out during some of my favorite exercises~ Mt. climbers, sprints, high knees... *sigh*
Hope it's just the rain.
Besides that. I kicked butt during Level 1 Drills today! Not super butt-kicking, but almost all full-push-ups! I keep thinking about needing to workout my back. So this next week is "rest-week" or "core cardio & balance" sooooooo ~ I think I'll work on my back and other strength stuff.
Tomorrow is "rest day"... but if I can walk/run I will, and then I will... and if I can workout... I will! Totally will be doing strengthening back exercises!
A work-out diary for a girl who's obsessed with details, organization, and progress.

Day 24: Running + Plyometric Cardio Circuit + Walking
Today was an active day!!!
It's Friday, so that means working and doing a seated aerobics class. It is not very vigorous (since it is for assisted living seniors and seniors with Alzheimer's), but it is something. Right after work, off to school for some running!
Running: Treadmill times at school!
~ Average speed: 5.8 mph
~ Minimum speed: 3.5 mph (1 min walk in between miles)
~ Maximum speed: 8.5 mph
~ Total time: 23 min, 37 sec
~ Total distance: 2.29 miles
~ Calories burned: 266 kcal
Then it was time for some Insanity at home!!!
Plyometric Cardio Circuit: Fun workout. 2nd most difficult from Month 1.
Today's workout was FUN! I was really pumped up to do it. Maybe it was the strange weather... driving in the OC with full sunshine while it was raining and pouring cats and dogs. Also very humid today. California (where I am) is usually very dry (which I like). T_T for humidity.
But! Today I was pumped up! As soon as I arrived home, it was onto Insanity.
Exercises I enjoyed:
My favorite parts are the "extras" Shaun T throws in at the end of the 3rd set of each exercise circuit. The first set ends with "scissor jumps" (in which you switch your feet forward and backward like a pair of scissors), followed by "wide football sprints"... I've mentioned these before. LOVE!
The second set ends with jab punches, Cross Jacks, uppercuts, and palm strikes. Fun times. I have so much fun with these. Cross Jacks are nice because I get sick of being in the push-up plank position by then, so jumping around is fun.
Exercises with difficulty:
I always have a couple exercises that kill me. Today was the same as always...! Level 1 drills! It's the push-ups! Just fatigued out. Then this makes it difficult to do "ski abs" and "in-outs abs" since they're both in push-up plank position the entire time. UGH. wah.
Night-time = fair times... so lots of walking. Brisk walking too. I hate being stuck behind slow moving people. We were also on a mission to find Clam Chowder. We arrived at the fair about 9:00p... found the chowder at 11:20p!!! But! We found it!
Walking:
We were seriously walking like mad people searching for that chowder. 2 people on a mission! Mission success!

So I would rank the difficulty level of the main 3 workout DVDs of Month 1 Insanity like so:
Most difficult: Pure Cardio ~ NON-STOP craziness
Medium: Plyometric Cardio Circuit
Least difficult: Cardio Power & Resistance
Maybe Plyo Cardio Circuit and Cardio Power & Resistance are about tied? Maybe.
I think I might be getting used to DVDs... I still am tired while doing it... but maybe the shock factor is gone. I know what exercises are coming next so I am mentally prepared to perform. It isn't like the first week when my body was saying "What are you doing to me???" Now it knows.
Pure Cardio is the only one with so many exercises, that I forget what's coming next since there is no break and the next exercise keeps coming.
Getting late and need to be up early!!!
Tomorrow is Cardio Recovery! Yay!

Day 20: Plyometric Cardio Circuit
End of Week 3 cycle!!!
One more week of Month 1 madness! Woo woo! Can't believe I've been doing this for three weeks already. It's crazy. I can tell the workouts are getting easier; in comparison to when I first started.
I did my workout at night [which I don't like... and was so tired today (hot and worn out)] so I started out a bit slow. Something on Dancing with the Stars helped me push. Rick Fox said "Larry Bird gave the advice "Pros play hurt."
It's true! I've been such a bum lately that I forgot about pushing. I do believe in adequate rest, but you do have to push to get beyond a plateau.
Today I had the same troubles with the same exercises: Level 1 drills and plank oblique side-to-side jumps. Arms pretty tired today! Yesterday they were actually shaking when I attempted to do a pull-up. Which gave me the line in the sand that said Insanity does not work out your back.
I remember I was thinking "I'm working out my legs, thighs, core, and chest a lot."
This really doesn't help me for pole dancing (pole fitness). LOL. I guess I really need to start doing some lat pulldowns. I need to start training again for that. It's a little difficult when my chest, core, biceps are always so fatigued... but my back is so weak... that it's tough to do some tricks.
Ahhh... me in my glory days.
Gotta work it out!

Day 16: Plyometric Cardio Circuit!
Today's workout felt really good! I feel like the workouts are getting a bit easier.
It surprised me a bit, since I woke up with my upper body (in particular my traps, biceps, and lats), very stiff from moving furniture! My bro and I had to remove and replace huge sliding mirror closet doors. It was so heavy! We had to keep taking breaks I started getting sweaty... sad last night cause it was right after I took a shower.
So surprising today that my plyos workout was pretty strong!
I was able to get through the first 2/3 of the workout without having to take an extra break or stop. Yay for muscular endurance!!! During the last couple sets of the workout... man ~ those "Level 1 Drills"... were killing me!
Level 1 Drills ~ I started out with full push-ups... and then modified, but I kept up with the counts/timing of the DVD for the entire first set. The second set was majority modified knee push-ups but mostly keeping up with timing. I think I took 1 break, but really pushed myself.
Ski oblique jumps ~ Right after Level 1 drills, you think you're done... but these come in the equation sometime... and it was my arms that were dying! My core was mostly okay... it was hard to try to ignore my arms burning out. But I luckily am pretty stubborn and did almost all of them 1st set. 2nd set and 3rd set were pretty difficult. All mental during those.
"Knees in - and - out" ~ I don't remember what these are called, but they're burpees without the standing jump up. Again, it was my arms that were giving out! I kept up pretty well with timing, but did have to take breaks.
I am really happy that I can get through the first 1/2 of the workout with no problems now! *flex*
Tomorrow is Pure Cardio + Cardio Abs!!!
Plus maybe some running. We'll see.
I just remembered I took body photos this morning. I'll post them tomorrow!!!

Day 10: Plyometric Cardio Circuit
This is my 3rd time completing this workout!
Today was tough. Seriously tough. I woke up feeling tired, then after eating a huge lunch... lethargic. But! I did my workout and am happy I did it. Now I'm just hungry!
Favorite exercises:
~ Football drills: They're so much fun!
~ Basketball jumps: Killer by the 3rd set, but I really like doing them.
~ (In push-up plank position) Knees side-to-side jumps: Killer again, but I like them. It's actually my arms that get so worn out, that I can't continue jumping.
~ Jab punches, uppercuts, palm strikes: These were fun! ... and easy... ^_^;
Exercises that killed me:
~ Level 1 drills: It was the push-ups. Almost every time that circuit came up... I would miss the first set, get mentally together and join in. I did my best though!
~ Power Squats: Usually not a problem for me. But something about today... these were just tough! I felt like I couldn't get deep enough in my squat.
~ Mountain Climbers: High knees are so tiring after a while!
I thought I'd take a video of the "Stretching" portion after the warm-up.
Just to warn you, the video is about 7-8 minutes long because the stretching takes about 6:30 min.
If you watch it, Shaun T misses a stretch/exercise. Can you figure out what it is? I realized this the second time I completed this workout. That's the main reason I recorded myself. If you can't see it, then I mention it at the end of the video! Enjoy!

Day 6: Plyometric Cardio Circuit
Tonight was my second time doing the plyo circuit!
I did much better this time around. Probably because I didn't do it just a few hours after completing an entire Fit Test "work out"!
In case you're wondering... here's a sample of the plyo exercises.
This is the first set of exercises demonstrated by me.
You repeat this set of exercises three times.
This is the second out of the three sets of exercises.
You'll notice my "suicides" (the name of the first exercise I do) is modified from the original workout. It is due to spacing issues of my workout area. I do not do the short quick steps in between the squats/lunges (?)
Also. I like retarded doing "mountain climbers."
Third. My ski jumps are so high! I got pretty winded after doing the first set. Plus I did part of the max Fit Test earlier today. I can feel it in my right quadricep >_<
Tomorrow is a rest day!

Day 1: Plyometric Cardio Circuit
Ok. I decided to do it today. I was thinking of doing a work-out later... but might as well do it while I'm awake, have energy, and am warm right?
I just ate a bowl of cereal... so I have a bit of food digesting, but hopefully I ate little enough that it doesn't bother me too much.
41 minute work-out.
The food did bother me a little bit. Felt a little cramp on my left side... but it went away with the fatigue! Oh well, day 1 work out finished!
Time for a shower and a foot massage now! Yay!
