Day 23: Cardio Power & Resistance + Walking

Happy Thursday!  Today was Cardio Power & Resistance workout!

I tried working out around 3p for Insanity... but felt a little sick.  I think I slept a bit too much and had a headache.  So... instead of starting up Insanity... I thought I would warm-up my body properly and do an easy low-impact walking workout.

Time for ExerciseTV and do a 47 minute 3-mile aerobic walking workout!  It was nice and easy... but it was exactly what my body needed to warm-up and help get rid of my oversleeping headache.

Walking:
Total time:  47 minutes
Distance walked:  3 miles
Calories burned:  ~ 300 kcal

One mile = ~100 kcal burned

So that makes me feel a little bit better about last night's crazy fair eating!  Although looking back, it wasn't that crazy.  But it's still atypical of what I usually eat... so yup.  Felt a bit better.  About an hour after completing the walking program, it was time for Insanity!

Time for INSANITY!!!

C'mon ya'll... let's go!!!

Lolz!  This is my favorite DVD because Shaun T says the line from the opening before each Insanity workout begins.  So it always makes me laugh.  Although... I would say this is the easiest workout of the 3 DVDs.

I started out pretty slow and tired... but!  At the end, I finished strong.  I think it took me a while to really get in the physical setting to do a "power" workout.

Most challenging exercises:
~ Moving push-ups:  My shoulder ended up hurting... so I did what I could and kept the best form possible.
~ Power Jumps w/ knee tucks:  It started up difficult, so I would rest... then bust out 15 quickly and consecutively... then next exercise.  *tired*
~ Triceps dips:  My shoulders are definitely stiff.  It's hard for me to go down.  Think it's my right shoulder holding me back during this exercise.

Fun exercises:
~ Sprints + hurdle jumps:  These are fun.  Love these
~ 8 squats + 8 push-ups:  I did 8 modified (knee) push-ups instead.  But these are fun.  Last exercises, so I pushed hard
~ Globe Jumps:  I don't know... just fun today.  Enjoy!

Tomorrow is Plyometric Cardio Circuit!!!

Maybe another walking program... or maybe running at the gym.  Also maybe some lat pulldowns or some seated rows.  Need to work out my back muscles.  Lots of chest with Insanity... and very little to none back.

Day 19: Cardio Power & Resistance

Today was a rough morning!!!

I had trouble sleeping last night.  I was so tired too!  But I remember looking at the clock and seeing 3a... then later waking up at 5:30a having to go to the bathroom!

Then I woke up this morning and I was really dehydrated.  Mouth was so dry.  It still is (even though I've been drinking water all through the workout).  My sitt bones hurt a lot too!  Poor ishial tuberosity *rubs*  It was the bike ride yesterday.  It wasn't even that long (about an hour total), but I remember feeling so uncomfortable, that I was standing half the time while biking!

It really caused discomfort during today's workout.  I felt so sluggish and slow also.  Really surprised I survived the entire workout.  I really wanted to quit many times, but although slow... I finished.

Enough whining.

Exercises I had trouble:
~ Warm-up log jumps ~ I did the workout as soon as I woke up (no time today).  Usually these are no problem, but today!  I felt so slow!
~ Power jumps ~ Again... legs felt ultra heavy.  It was difficult for me to get high off the floor.  It really was a mental game.
~ Tricep dips (and modified knees in push-ups) ~ I just feel awkward.  Plus my arms were so tired today!  Maybe from putting my upper body weight on the bike handles?
~ Moving push-ups ~ Always have trouble with these.  Today I didn't even start out strong!  *baby today*

It really took me a while to start up.  Once I started I was just... "okay"

Exercises that were still fun (despite me being a baby today):
~ Hurdle sprints ~ I just love these.  Fast feet.  I like a lot.
~ Floor sprints ~ Although my upper body was tired, I did it not so bad.
~ 8 hop squats & 8 push-ups ~ surprisingly I was dying... but last exercise means I pushed.  Almost all full-push-ups too!  Had to make up for my bum-ness during the rest of the workout.

*dead now!*

I promise tomorrow's workout will be much better!!!
Here we go Plyometric Cardio Circuit!

Day 12: Cardio Power & Resistance

My face is as red as my sports bra right?  You can't tell, but it really is red.

Whenever I exercise hard, my face just gets super flushed!  My brother is the opposite, he turns really pale when he works out.

Funny thing is right now he is ultra pale looking and doing the Plyometric Cardio Circuit in his room.  During our 30-sec breaks, we stop by each other's workout area and encourage each other with Shaun T's "C'mon ya'll... LET's GOOOOOOO!" that is shown in each DVD opening.  It's from the Cardio Power & Resistance workout I did today!

Today's workout:  Sometimes during high-power exercises I get so tired!  SO quickly, maybe because my body is so beat that I can't give 100%, but during Power Jumps I did about 10, then maybe 1-3 when I caught my breath.  Other exercises... totally okay!  Like hurdle jumps, I was able to power through and bring my knees high on almost every repetition.  Hmm!  After tomorrow's Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs, I gotta rest for reals for week 3!

Exercises that I had trouble with:
~ Power jumps:  Like I said earlier, I just had trouble powering through them!
~ Moving push-ups:  I started with full-push-ups... then eventually had to resort to modified knee push-ups!
~ Triceps dips:  wah!  My shoulder started bugging me during this one.  Must be the hyperextended position... so I had to stop.
~ Tricep push-ups:  I don't even know if I was doing this right.  It felt awkward and wasn't sure exactly what I was doing.  I remember feeling awkward last week.

Exercises I enjoyed:
~ Sprints + Hurdle jumps:  FUN!  I had no problem with these.  I felt really good about bring my knees high and sprinting fast
~ 8 pulse squats + 8 push-ups:  I had to eventually modify the push-ups, but I like fast-moving push-ups!  Power power power!
~ Globe jumps:  I like jumping and moving in circles.  It was getting tough to lift off the floor, but it was fun

Tomorrow is Pure Cardio + Cardio Abs!  2 workouts tomorrow!!!  *excited*

Day 8: Cardio Power and Resistance

This is my second time doing cardio power and resistance.

I feel a lot better today compared to last week (which was the first time I did this particular workout).

I am not as sore as I was last week after cardio plyos.  So feeling better today made the workout a bit "easier" compared to doing it when sore and fatigued.

Tough parts!
~ Walking push-ups ~ weak lower body!  did better compared to last week, but still my weak point
~ Tricep dips ~ maybe I just have inflexible shoulders... but this was tough.  I felt like I wasn't going low enough and I got super tired (>_<)
~ One-legged tricep dips ~ same thing... I suck.  lol.  XD

Woooo!  so tired right now!  My legs are shaking a bit!  My right quadriceps in particular.  *sigh*  Time to shower then use some tiger balm!!!

Check me out doing the warm-up for cardio power & resistance!

Day 3: Cardio Power & Resistance

Calves still dying.  It amazes me how much the mind carries over the body.

Physically I feel soreness and a bit of pain in my calves.  So bad that It's difficult to walk normally until I warm-up for a while.

But!  Once the DVD starts, I feel a bit like a machine.  Like whoa, I'm jumping when he tells me to jump.

My thoughts?  This workout wasn't too difficult.  The warm-up was a little different and easier from the Plyometric Cardio and Pure Cardio.

The intervals were only about 2 minutes long, so there were plenty of breaks in between.

The exercises I had difficulties with were:

  • Walking push-ups - again, weak upper body T__T  slowly but surely, it will be stronger
  • Hurdle jumps - I was able to jump, but stiff calves made it a little difficult
  • One-legged tricep push-ups/dips - Calves were killing me on this one, so I attempted, then continued with standard tricep dips.
So to make this more interesting!  Here's a poorly lit video (darn back-light) of me doing the first set of exercises after the warm-up for Cardio Power & Resistance!  Next time I'll be sure to video in the master bedroom instead of the living room.  (likes the TV in here better though)

You'll notice I'm not moving very fast.  Again, this is the first set of exercises.  This repeats two more times and speeds up with each set.

*** Funny note:  you can see my bro and aunt hanging out in the bg... and my bro was eating pizza.  Yes.  baking then eating a pizza while I was working out.  Then my aunt came over with chicken and pork adobo!  Torture!
