Day 12: Meal 3 ~ Dinner

Usually after completing an Insanity workout and depleting a ton of calories... I start to get ultra hungry at least 30 minutes post-workout!

Bro and I finished our workouts, took showers, then headed to church.  We ended up both starving through church.  Headed over to Jamba Juice for their Buy 1 get 1 free deal!  Yay!

Dinner:  Regular sized Acai smoothie

Food:  Acai smoothie (310 kcal) ~ I didn't drink the entire thing, left a little less than 1/4th left

Calories:  310 kcal

Bro go the strawberry energizer.  It was perfect recovery drink!
Next to Jamba is a Wing Stop!

Bro was craving it, and I wanted some too.  Ate 4 pieces of these babies.  I also ate my left-over pasta!  Only ate the angel-hair part though.  Didn't want the potatoes.  Bro ate the rest of it

Food:  4 lemon-pepper chicken wings/legs (192 kcal), 4 oz angel hair pasta (300 kcal)

Calories so far:  872 kcal

YUM!  happy and full!

Tomorrow is running, then Pure Cardio + Cardio Abs!

Day 12: Cardio Power & Resistance

My face is as red as my sports bra right?  You can't tell, but it really is red.

Whenever I exercise hard, my face just gets super flushed!  My brother is the opposite, he turns really pale when he works out.

Funny thing is right now he is ultra pale looking and doing the Plyometric Cardio Circuit in his room.  During our 30-sec breaks, we stop by each other's workout area and encourage each other with Shaun T's "C'mon ya'll... LET's GOOOOOOO!" that is shown in each DVD opening.  It's from the Cardio Power & Resistance workout I did today!

Today's workout:  Sometimes during high-power exercises I get so tired!  SO quickly, maybe because my body is so beat that I can't give 100%, but during Power Jumps I did about 10, then maybe 1-3 when I caught my breath.  Other exercises... totally okay!  Like hurdle jumps, I was able to power through and bring my knees high on almost every repetition.  Hmm!  After tomorrow's Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs, I gotta rest for reals for week 3!

Exercises that I had trouble with:
~ Power jumps:  Like I said earlier, I just had trouble powering through them!
~ Moving push-ups:  I started with full-push-ups... then eventually had to resort to modified knee push-ups!
~ Triceps dips:  wah!  My shoulder started bugging me during this one.  Must be the hyperextended position... so I had to stop.
~ Tricep push-ups:  I don't even know if I was doing this right.  It felt awkward and wasn't sure exactly what I was doing.  I remember feeling awkward last week.

Exercises I enjoyed:
~ Sprints + Hurdle jumps:  FUN!  I had no problem with these.  I felt really good about bring my knees high and sprinting fast
~ 8 pulse squats + 8 push-ups:  I had to eventually modify the push-ups, but I like fast-moving push-ups!  Power power power!
~ Globe jumps:  I like jumping and moving in circles.  It was getting tough to lift off the floor, but it was fun

Tomorrow is Pure Cardio + Cardio Abs!  2 workouts tomorrow!!!  *excited*

Day 12: Meal 1 ~ Brunch

Backlog done!

I said I wouldn't do it anymore, but I did it again yesterday.  Oops.

Here's my sugar-rushed breakfast eaten from Sugar Rush Cafe!  Found this place through the help of yelp! I love french toast... and this place is known for it.

Breakfast:  4 pieces of french toast with raisins, covered in bananas and strawberries.  No idea what type of sugar syrup it is... but it's good.

Food:  3 pieces of french toast (~500 kcal)?, 1/2 banana (53 kcal), 2 strawberries (5 kcal), 3 tbsp syrup (~160 kcal?)

Calories:  718 kcal

WHOA.  Starting my day off big.  I'm guessing?  I might be over-doing it with the french toast calories... but hmm.  not sure.  Better to over-estimate than underestimate right?

It's been 4 hours since I ate this... and I'm still full.  Must be a lot of calories!

At least it's lots of energy.  Cardio Power & Resistance today!

Day 11: Meal 3 ~ Dinner

I was on empty right before dinner.

The night before I was craving pasta also.  Carbs!!!  I need you!

So off to Spaghetti Eddie's Italian Restaurant!

Last time I ate here, I had the most delicious seafood linguini.  Today I had a delicious angel hair pasta!  It hit the spot perfectly.

Sorry the photos are so dark... you know Italian restaurants and romantic dim-lit ambiance...

Dinner:  Garlic puffs, Italian wedding soup, angel hair pasta with wine/olive oil dressing? + tomatoes/asparagus/potatoes (didn't eat any potatoes), and tiramisu.

Food:  3 garlic puffs (240 kcal?), 8 oz soup (146 kcal), 4 oz pasta (420 kcal?), 2 tbsp tiramisu (50 kcal?)

Calories:  856 kcal?
This Italian wedding soup was the best!!!

So delicious.  I could eat bowls and bowls of this.  Yum.

If I had just the garlic puffs (pizza dough baked with garlic and olive oil), I would have been totally cool with it.
This was awesome!  I wish I had more asparagus in the pasta.  I didn't eat any of the potatoes... not in a potato mood...

The pasta was light and so was the sauce.  A wine with olive oil?  I don't remember, but I picked out all the asparagus and ate maybe 1/4 the amount of pasta here.  Still looked like a full serving when I was done.

Oh well, lunch!
The entire time we were there, they kept apologizing because their computers all went down.

It didn't affect us at all actually, but!

Before we left they offered a complimentary dessert!  I choose the tiramisu because yum, it's tiramisu!

I took this pic at home.

I ate a little bit off one edge with a fork to taste it.  It was delicious.  Tomorrow's meal!

Day 11: Cardio Recovery + Jay Johnson's Boot Camp Abs

Ahhh ~ cardio recovery!

This is a nice workout... mostly because it isn't insane like the other workouts!  I still was sweating like crazy.  Metabolism and body just start sweating!  It was dripping down my face.  Here's quick breakdown of what happened today.

Stretching, isometrics, slow movements

The toughest part was after completing 16 squats, then "holding" the position.  Killer part!  Once the pulsing started, then it wasn't bad... isometrics!  *dies*  It repeats again with the lunges...

Which to note is a little confusing in the DVD.  He keeps switching up the words "squat" and "lunge"... they are back to back in the progression, but he'll use them interchangeable ~ must be an accident.

P.S. I hate table-top plank position.  My triceps are going through some serious hypertrophy right now... *dies* I should probably watch my diet from now on... but just gotta tighten it up!

After the workout, I felt a little unsatisfied... so I turned on the "Time Warner Cable's On Demand" and did a quick 10-minute abdominal workout with traditional crunches/bicycles/switchkicks/etc.

It was from Jay Johnson's Boot Camp Fitness.  Prior to Insanity, I did his cardio boot camp workouts on the television when I wanted something different.  One of his mottos is "Crawl, Walk, Run." which I really like.  It's like Insanity, always give your 100% and do what you can.

The 10-minute abdominal workout was what I needed.  I wanted to go running a bit after working out, but got a call for dinner... so... that was that!  Realized also after the call that I was hungry!

Off to shower then dinner.
